fellas, one ‘abdullah’ just posted this awesome track commemorating india’s recent world cup slaughter. if you haven’t already, you gots to hear this from the group BodhiTree:
bodhiTree’s GAAND MEIN DANDA.mp3
*****
PS: ‘abdullah’ has since added this clarification:
“btw, the GMD song from bodhitree is not really about the indian wc debacle but experiences of B students in B-schools. although, the song is quite appropriate for the indian team as well.”
*****
bodhiTree are a bunch of management students in jamshedpur, the drummer and keyboard player are female.
Why this name?
bodhiTree: the name of a planet in a faraway galaxy where much gyaan is given, many relationships forged and many sixers hit.
While perusing irreverant underground sub-continent music (IUSM) i found what seems to be another mega hit — the bhen chod sutta (b.c. sutta) song by Zeest. now, this ain’t no nerdy rag-tag college band. check out salon article, That BC Sutta song

Basically the philosophy of this song for us is not only the love of sutta (a smoke) but also a song dedicated to all the aims that haven’t been fulfilled and all the things in the world that have gone against our will.
so for all you smokers, and all of us who haven’t gotten anything done in life:
now the hilarious thing is that this inspired an anti-smoking (don’t smoke sutta) video on channel V by one number DJ Shezwood
skip, founder of zeest is clearly pissed off, “Wait…Isn’t this piracy? She’s copying the tune of the original song without even letting the owners know. It is not like Zeest isn’t working anymore, or Zeest has officially given up music.”
there have been some write-ups around the censorship of these bands — reporter lonappant ouseppachan (love that name!) from ‘dance with shadows’ reports:
After all, while certain words such as g**** and BC are offensive to many in certain contexts, there is no denying the fact that they form integral parts of vocabulary of the college-goer, schoolboy and even some top CEOs in the country that I know personally.
So, BC, just enjoy the songs, okay?
yeah, enjoy…
